Final Guardmount - Former Staff Sergeant Dennis S. (Steve) Dilks
I regret to inform you that former Staff Sergeant Dennis Steven (Steve) Dilks attended his final guardmount on August 23, 2007. On Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 4PM, Eagle Member Bill (Sarge) Garlitz will deliver a eulogy for Steve at Virgil Wilson Post #4961 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Middleford Road, Seaford, Delaware.
A dedicated warrior, Steve lost his courageous battle to cancer at the age of 58. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a Security Police professional in December 1967 and served until November 1971. During his tenure, he heroically served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam which included his successful defense of Air Base assets during the Tet Offensive. As a member of the 512th Security Forces Squadron, (Air Force Reserves), Dover Delaware, Steve would go off to war again in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
A very active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization, Steve was a life member of Virgil Wilson Post 4961, Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he served as Post Commander.
May this warrior, loving partner, father and grandfather, rest in the peace he so nobly and graciously dedicated his life.
