Warfighter Mem. Svcs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Warfighter Memorial Services

Eagle Chapter has initiated a program to show our appreciation to deceased AFSPA members and other warfighters, our Warfighter Memorial Services program.

World War II Memorial Korean War Memorial Vietnam War Memorial Vietnam Women's War Memorial

About our artist.  Eagle Chapter greatly appreciates the talent and devotion of Member Trudy Hannah who made these wreaths.  Trudy lives 3hrs away from DC.  She did not want to take the risk of placing these wreaths in the system to get them to us, she personally made the trip herself to bring them here (a six hour journey round trip) and help with placing them at the memorials shown here.  We picked today, Oct 5 2005, the day when A1C Elizabeth (Liz) Jacobson's body is being returned to the US as the day to make our first time placement of wreaths at these memorials to honor not only our heroes of earlier wars but the brave men and women like Liz who are safeguarding our freedoms today.

Thank you to them and a very heartfelt thanks to Trudy who gave us a lot more than flowers!

Our Warfighter Memorial Services program is designed to accomplish four objectives:

1. Place Eagle Chapter and AFSPA Memorial Wreaths at four National Warfighter Memorials. Several times a year, we will provide standing floral wreaths at the following national memorials in Washington DC:

  •   World War II Memorial
  •   Korean War Memorial
  •   Vietnam War Memorial
  •   Vietnam Women's War Memorial

The purpose of this objective is to demonstrate US Air Force Security Force Association support to warfighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice that guarantee us the freedom  that we have today.

2. Place Bouquets at Eagle Chapter Air Force Security Police Association Member Grave Sites at Arlington National Cemetery. Several times a year, we will also conduct grave site vigils and lay a bouquet on the gravesites of our members and their active duty Security Force spouses who are deceased.  Moreover, we will make this same contribution to other national cemeteries that are served by Eagle Chapter members at some sites in DC, DE, MD, VA and WV. We currently only support Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington VA and Hampton National Cemetery in Hampton VA. We will provide support for other ASFPA members and families who are not members of Eagle Chapter. Contact us to develop an approach that best fits your need for cherishing the memory of your departed, warfighter. We also need other Eagle Chapter members to provide this support at other national cemeteries that are located in Eagle Country.

3. Provide Family Bereavement Assistance Services. Provide an interface with family members and federal agencies who have AFSPA members (or other Security Force Airmen) buried at Arlington. Support families of the deceased during burial ceremony at Arlington.

4. Place wreaths at National Cemeteries in other Eagle Chapter communities to honor deceased warfighters of current and predecessors of Air Force Security Forces. Maj TJ Downing, SMSgt (Ret) Bill Scouten, and Ms Trudy Hannah  spearhead this initiative in the Hampton VA community. Other communities are in development.
